We are offering these mini breaks throughout the winter and spring season. Departures go every Friday from January 9th through to March 20th 2016. We run these with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 12.

We are offering these mini breaks throughout the winter and spring season. Departures go every Friday from January 9th through to March 20th 2016. We run these with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 12.

Detailed Itinerary

  • The Khumbu Express (4 nights)

    • Perfect for a long-weekend getaway: leave Friday lunchtime and be back in the office Tuesday morning.

      The Khumbu Express is for people who would like to really stretch their legs and get their fill of mountain air. It has some long-ish day hikes and spectacular views of Everest and the surrounding ranges.

      Friday: A spectacular but short morning flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region where, after awarming drink at YMH Lukla, you’ll meet your guide and porter. From here we trek to Phakding (2,610m) down through rhododendron glades, farmsteads, forests and valleys. Around 3 hours trekking. Welcome drinks by the fire, followed by dinner in our cosy restaurant. (LD YMH Phakding)

      Saturday: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) 4-5 hours trekking stopping off at YMH Monjo for an early lunch before entering the Sagarmatha National Park. It’s along the river for a short while longer before the steady climb up through the pine forests to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazar. Arrive at YMH Namche in time for a hot shower and rest then relax with drinks by the fire before dinner. (BLD YMH Namche)

      Sunday: After an early morning peak at Everest form a nearby view point, we take a half day hike to the snuggly villages of Kunde and Khumjung. There are many more views of Everest and friends as we ascend the ridge – plenty of photo opportunities on this walk! In Kunde and Kumjung we’ll visit the Sir Edmund Hillary trust school and the health clinic too if there’s time. On our return to Namche we take lunch at the lodge then have the afternoon free to potter round the bazaar and maybe enjoy a massage at our spa. (BLD YMH Namche)

      Monday: Trek back to Lukla catching different views and new sights (2840m)5-6 hours trekking. (BLD YMH Lukla)

      Tuesday: Early morning flight to Kathmandu (B)

    • Perfect for a long-weekend getaway with a little something extra for those very special occasions!

      The Khumbu Express is for people who would like to really stretch their legs and get their fill of mountain air. It has some long-ish day hikes and spectacular views of Everest and the surrounding ranges. The highlight of this trip is the helicopter trip from YMH Thame around the main Everest peaks: incredible views, an amazing experience topped off with a glass or two of champagne when you touch down at Lukla.

      Monday:Your helicopter will pick you up from our YMH helipad and whisk you off up the main Khumbu valley for a close up and personal glimpse of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam and other astonishing views. You’ll land at YMH Kongde in time for a champagne breakfast overlooking the length of the Khumbu with Everest and her sisters crowning the landscape. After soaking up the breathtaking atmosphere we whisk you back down to Kathmandu where there’ll be a car waiting to take you home.
