Ymh Treks

All our treks run with a minimum of two people and on dates of your choice: come with friends or family and trek at your own pace in comfort and style.

We recognise that some people love their independence and just need a bed at the end of each day, whilst some like to have everything taken care of and nothing to do but trek and enjoy. For those of you who’d like the ease of a complete package we have four very special trekking holidays to choose from. All our treks run with a minimum of two people and on dates of your choice: come with friends or family and trek at your own pace in comfort and style. For those of you who’d like to join a group our new YMH Everest Base Camp trek also offers a couple of fixed departure dates. If you’re not sure which trek is best for you, please have a look at the ‘First time in Nepal’ and ‘First Time Trekker’ pages. You should also find the ‘Trek Grading’ information helpful. If in doubt, contact us for a chat!

How to Prepare

The best preparation for trekking is… well it's not rocket science… it's trekking! Getting out for hikes and short walks in your home country, even regular walks in the park if you can’t escape to the countryside much, are a good way to prepare.

Getting used to your personal equipment, feeling that your backpack fits snugly; enjoying the re-assuring strength of a familiar pair of hiking boots; knowing what layers work best for you; what little extras to carry in your pockets… all this is invaluable.

If you can manage some weekends away in your local national park, low hills, high mountains… anywhere where you'll be walking on rough paths and doing a little up and down … is good practice!

Some fitness from running, swimming, the gym, yoga, Zumba classes etc is also a plus!
